Các môn thể thao dưới nước

Môn bóng nước được chơi trong một hồ sâu 1.8m, dài 30m, và rộng 20m, với khung thành cao 3m và ít nhất 0.9m trên mặt nước. Khung thành được đánh dấu bởi những những cột đứng, một xà ngang, và một cái lưới.

Water polo is played in a pool 1.8 metres deep, 30 metres long and 20 metres wide, with a goal 3 metres high and at least 0.9 metre above the water. The goal is marked by vertical posts, a crossbar and a net. 

Có bảy người chơi trong một đội, sáu người bơi và một thủ môn. Đội chủ nhà đội mũ trắng, đội khách đội mũ xanh dương và hai thủ môn đội mũ đỏ in số 1 màu trắng.

There are seven players per team, six swimmers and a goalie. The home team wears white caps, the visiting team blue ones and the goalies wear red caps with the number 1 in white. 

Giống như bóng đá, trận đấu bắt đầu bằng trái banh đặt giữa hồ và cả hai đội phải nhanh chóng giành được nó từ vạch cầu môn (khung thành) của mình.Trái banh có thể được đưa lên phía trước bằng cách truyền banh bằng một tay hay bơi với đầu trên mặt nước và banh kẹp giữa hai tay cho nó "cưỡi" (đi) lên theo làn sóng tạo ra bởi đầu người bơi. Like football, the game begins with the ball in the centre of the pool and both teams sprint for it from their own goal lines. The ball can be advanced by passing with one hand or swimming with the head above the water and the ball between the arms so it rides on the wave created by the swimmer's head. No player except the goalie can hold the ball with both hands. 

Các cầu thủ trong hàng phòng thủ không được phép ngăn cản chuyển động của đối phương trừ khi cầu thù đối phương đang cầm trái banh. Vi phạm sẽ bị phạt một phút trong hộp phạt (trong bóng nước, có một khu nhỏ trong hồ bơi dành cho những cầu thủ đang bị phạt) và cầu thủ sẽ bị đuổi khỏi cuộc chơi sau khi vi phạm năm lỗi cá nhân.

Defensive players are not allowed to interfere with the opponent's movements unless the player is holding the ball. Major fouls are penalized by one minute in the penalty box and a player is ejected after Committing five personal fouls. 

Đối với lỗi nhỏ, như là cầm banh lâu hay đấm vào banh, một cú ném tự do sẽ được thưởng cho đội đối phương ngay tại vị trí phạm lỗi. Ít nhất hai người chơi phải chạm tay vào banh sau cú ném tự do trước khi có thể tính điểm ghi bàn.

For minor fouls, such as holding or punching the ball, a free throw is awarded from the spot of the foul. At least two players must touch the ball after a free throw before a goal can be scored. 

Trận đấu được chia ra các hiệp tư (giống cái bánh tròn cắt làm bốn) kéo dài từ năm tới tám phút. Sau một trận hòa, sẽ có hai khoảng đá bù giờ mỗi khoảng dài ba phút. Nếu trận đấu vẫn hòa sau khi chơi bù giờ, hai đội tiếp tục chơi một ván đá bù giờ 3 phút cho tới khi quyết định của trọng tài được đưa ra.

A game is divided into quarters ranging from five to eight minutes in length. After a tie, there are two overtime periods of three minutes each. If the game is still tied after the overtime periods, two teams continue to play 3-minute overtime until the referree's decision is made.
